California State University, Dominguez Hills and
Long Beach Children's Hospital Sponsor Blood Drive

CARSON, Calif: - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Associated Students, Inc., (ASI) and the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Miller Children's Hospital will join forces to host a blood drive on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Loker University Student Union. The blood drive will be staffed by professional nurses and hospital staff.

David Gamboa, commissioner of clubs and organizations for ASI, looks forward to the blood drive and expects campus-wide participation. "We are holding this joint activity with the children's hospital to help those individuals in need of blood to survive and get better," Gamboa said. "The hospital staff will make a special effort to care for the safety and health of every donor during the blood donation process."

Anyone wishing to become a donor must meet certain requirements. "The requirements are that each donor shall not have any body piercing or tattoos within the last 12 months," Gamboa said. "Also, donors must weigh more than 110 pounds and must be at least 17 years old. Each donor must bring either a valid CSUDH student ID or California ID card to the registration table."

The goal of the blood drive is to have at least 60 people sign up and donate blood. "Super donor" T-shirts and coupons for ice cream from Baskin Robbins will be given to donors.

Anyone wishing to become a donor can contact David Gamboa at (310) 243-3686 or via email at
