State Dominguez Hills Celebrates the Life of César E. Chávez
During Weeklong Activities Highlighting His Contributions to Society
Third
Annual César E. Chávez Tardeada
Carson, CA - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), will begin a weeklong celebration of the life and legacy of César E. Chávez beginning Monday, March 24, and culminating on March 27 with the Third Annual César E. Chávez Tardeada and Luncheon from noon to 2 p.m., in the Loker University Student Union. Renowned director, Ed Begley, Jr., will deliver the keynote address for the luncheon. Begley will be recognized during a special media reception at 11 a.m. in the President's Office.
The purpose of the event is to commemorate the memory of César E. Chávez and to honor individuals and groups who carry on the struggle for justice and improvements in education.
The CSU Dominguez Hills Latino Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA) is the principal co-sponsor of the University's week of activities. Marlene Frantz, LFSA President and representative of the CSUDH Office of Financial Aid, expects campus and community-wide participation for the event. "Everyone is encouraged to attend the Tardeada to commemorate the legacy of César E. Chávez," she said. "This year's Tardeada is especially significant in that it marks the 10-year anniversary of César E. Chávez's death."
The week of events feature a play, movie, performances, and benefit concert. The play, "César E. Chávez: The Rise of a Leader," was written by CSUDH student, Glen Jiménez. Tickets for the Tardeada are $25 per person, or $250 per table (10 seats).
