Father Patrick J. McPolin To Be Honored
During CSU Dominguez Hills' Presidential Scholarship & Awards Dinner

Annual Fund-raising Gala Benefits Scholarships

Carson, CA - Father Patrick J. McPolin of the Dominguez Seminary will be honored by California State University, Dominguez Hills during the Fifth Annual Presidential Scholarship & Awards Dinner at The Beverly Hilton on Thursday, April 3. Father McPolin will be presented with the "Lifetime Achievement Award," as University President James E. Lyons, Sr., guest presenters and friends of the university gather to honor student scholars and community supporters. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the hotel located near the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards in Beverly Hills.

Father McPolin has been a member of every presidential advisory board at CSUDH since 1967. Affectionately referred to as "Father Pat," he has dedicated his life to unselfish work on behalf of Cal State Dominguez Hills, which is only matched by his leadership to the Dominguez Adobe Museum, his Parish, and many charitable organizations throughout the South Bay.

CBS2 Sports Director Jim Hill, a former defensive back for the San Diego Chargers, will serve as the evening's master of ceremonies, while Janine Haydel, co-host on the popular talk show, "The Home Team," on Stevie Wonder's KJLH radio, will serve as a special award presenter. Haydel is also a graduate of CSUDH. "The Swing of Things," a 10-piece band specializing in '40s music, and the Danny Grissett Trio will provide the evening's entertainment.

Presidential scholarships are awarded annually for the outstanding academic achievements of graduating high school students and community college transfer students planning to attend CSU Dominguez Hills. Initiated in 1985 as a means of encouraging these students to continue their education and attend CSU Dominguez Hills, the full scholarships contribute to the climate of academic excellence on campus. The scholarships also provide the financial support required by many deserving students, not only during their freshman year, but also throughout the student's undergraduate education (if they maintain renewal eligibility).

Tickets are $250 per person or $2,500 per table. Please access the University's website at for additional information on the scholarship and awards dinner.
