Four CSUDH Students Selected to Study Abroad

Carson, CA - California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is proud to announce that four of its students have been selected for the prestigious honor of studying abroad in 2004-05.

They are:
• Agustín M. Valencia Jr., of Oxnard, California. Valencia is an International Business senior, and is attending the Instituto Techológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
• Derrick K. Hodges, of Carson, California. Hodges is a Liberal Studies senior, and is attending the Instituto Techológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
• Luis E. Castaneda, of San Pedro, California. Castaneda is a Spanish Literature & Language senior, and is attending the University of Granada in Spain.
• Linda M. Renfroe, of San Pedro, California. Renfroe is a Political Science senior, and is attending the University of Aix-Marseille in France.

Their enthusiasm is palpable:
• “Given the opportunity to study in Mexico, where my parents originated, has broadened my perspective in all aspects of my life, not just academically,” Valencia says. “This experience has opened doors to the international spectrum I seek. Being able to participate in an internship, here in Mexico, helps put all aspects learned into process.”
• “I was extremely excited to have been selected. My ultimate goal is to teach, translate and write, and a year in Spain will greatly contribute to that goal. When I received the letter of acceptance, I literally shouted and jumped around in my bedroom,” says Castaneda. “It has been a wonderful experience full of adventures, new friends (in and out of the program) and exciting excursions to various parts of Spain.”
• “The university is wonderful, as are the professors,” Renfroe says. “ I have always dreamed of living in France, and given the current political climate and my major, what better time to come?”

International Programs (IP) is the system-wide study abroad program of the CSU. Currently in its 41st year of continuous operation, IP provides international academic opportunities in the framework of a California State University degree program. With a focus on academic year studies, IP offers an array of study options related to specific degree and career objectives.
