CARSON, Calif. – California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) will connect the continental “digital divide” with an agreement to promote distance learning in Moscow. WHO: Dr. James E. Lyons, Sr., President, California State University, Dominguez
Hills and Boris Mikhailov, Rector, Moscow State Academy of Instrumental Engineering
and Computer Science (MGAPI) University. The first partnership between an American and a Russian university to make
accredited Web-based distance learning degree programs available to students
in Russia. Initially, the program will offer the Master of Business Administration,
Master of Science in Quality Assurance and Bachelor of Science in Quality
Assurance. CSUDH is an international leader in distance learning and has the largest distance learning program in the CSU system with students in all 50 states and more than 60 countries. Moscow State Academy of Instrumental Engineering and Computer Science was
established on August 29, 1936 as the All-Russian Machine-Building Institute.
It was renamed the Moscow State Academy of Instrumental Engineering and
Computer Science (MGAPI) on January 7, 1994. MGAPI has seven major departments:
Computer Sciences, Economics and Business, Science of Law, Fundamental Physics
and Mathematics, Sociology, Philosophy and History. The major departments
of MGAPI offer more than 50 specializations. # # #
