California State University, Dominguez Hills
to Hold Auditions for World Premier of “Detox”

Carson, Calif – Auditions for the rock musical “Detox,” will take place in the University Theatre at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), Monday, March 1, and Tuesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. Roles are available for six men and four women between the ages of 20 - 45, four of whom must be singers. All roles are open to the community.

This will be a world premiere of a new play written by Professor of Theatre Arts Rex Heuschkel, adapted by CSUDH alumna Sunee Foley, with original music and lyrics by rock musician Jake Fleder. The production will open April 23 and continue through May 2.

“Detox” delivers a penetrating account about the triumphs and challenges of life in a drug and alcohol detox center. The humor, music and drama interweave as characters dance around the realities of their lives, stumbling upon personal compassion, sober meditation and an exploration of love and identity. It promises to be an inspirational evening for anyone who has ever felt lost and suddenly found hope.

Aspiring actors can check out scripts from the Theatre Arts Department office, room UT A-101, or by calling (310) 243-3588.

Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), the CSUDH Department of Theatre Arts participates regularly in the American College Theatre Festival.
