As part of its annual ceremony for African American graduating high school students, College Bound will hold a forum to engage university presidents from throughout the nation as they discuss why college is a necessity and not a choice. On Sunday, students will participate in the “Rites of Academic Passage” at the Beverly Hilton. Billed as College Bound’s major fundraiser, the ceremony is designed to honor graduating high school seniors who are moving to the next level of their academic studies at various colleges and universities.
Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, president, Resselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York; Dr. Horace Mitchell, vice chancellor, Business and Administrative Services, UC Berkeley; and Dr. Dereck J.
