CSU Dominguez Hills Alum Returns to Campus to Direct Adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”
Carson, CA- The Theatre Arts Department of California State University, Dominguez Hills has announced"A Christmas Carol," as the second show of its 2006-2007 season. Written by Doris Baizley, this inventive
adaptation of the Charles Dickens story was performed for five years at the Mark Taper Forum.
In this version of the holiday classic, a company of traveling players create a magical world of make-believe.
The troupe proceeds to make their way through the tale, with dazzling special effects, English country dancing,
singing, and Victorian circus acts.
“A Christmas Carol” is directed by CSUDH alumna Naomi Buckley, who recently returned from London where she
completed her M.A. at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Buckley’s CSUDH directing credits include "The
Vagina Monologues," "Lend Me a Tenor," and "In the Still of the Night." She has also established a reputation
in the South Bay as a playwright, producer and instructor.
A fifteen-member cast features CSUDH theatre majors John Waite, Heidi Stager and Ingrid Interiano. It also
includes Glen Jimenez, an actor and director who recently performed at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival, and
Wendy Washbrook, an actress and casting director who is a stand-in on the popular T.V. show, “Seventh Heaven.”
"A Christmas Carol" will open at the University Theatre on Friday, December 8th, at 8 p.m. Performances will
