George Arasimowicz Named
Dean of College of Arts and Humanities
Carson, CA – California
State University, Dominguez Hills has named George Arasimowicz,
Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Humanities effective
July 2.
Dr. Arasimowicz comes to CSUDH having been dean of the Division
of Arts, Media and Communication at Wheaton College in Wheaton,
Ill., since 1999. He has been a faculty member and professor
of music at Wheaton for the last 10 years. Arasimowicz has
also taught at the University of California, San Diego, Southern
California College (now Vanguard University of Southern California),
Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., the University of Alberta,
and the University of Colorado at Denver, where he was also
chair of the Department of Music. In other professional capacities
he has served an as accreditation evaluator for the National
Association of Schools of Music; composed arrangements for
video, television, radio, dance and theater; produced and
hosted radio programs; and served as director of an electroacoustic
music studio.
“I am confident that his background and administrative
experience make him an ideal leader for the College ofArts
and Humanities,” said Provost and Vice President for
Academic Affairs Allen A. Mori. “I look forward to
welcoming him to the Academic Affairs leadership team and
to the university community.
Dr. Arasimowicz earned his bachelor’s degree in English
and history from Carleton University, his master’s
from McGill University and his Ph.D. from the University
of California, San Diego.
