FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community Invited to A Day at Dominguez
Local students and families encouraged
to attend and learn about
the programs at California State University, Dominguez Hills
(Carson,
CA) – California
State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) will host “A Day at Dominguez” from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. The open house event
is designed to introduce the community to the academic
and student life programs offered at this Southern California
campus.
An event organized each semester,
A Day at Dominguez welcomes thousands of middle and high
school students, community college
transfer and adult re-entry students, and prospective graduate
students, as well as parents and local school counselors
to the university. While here, they have the opportunity
to talk to faculty, staff and current CSUDH students during
the day’s academic fair, tour the campus and on-campus
housing facilities, and attend workshops further highlighting
the academic programs, financial aid opportunities, and student
life activities offered at CSUDH. Informational sessions
for parents also are offered and will be provided in both
English and Spanish.
A key component of A Day at Dominguez is on-site admissions.
Admissions and records staff will be available to meet
with prospective students and discuss their admissions
eligibility, and if eligible, they can be admitted to CSUDH
right then. If a student cannot be admitted, staff will
advise him or her on a course of action. Students wanting
to take advantage of on-site admissions must first apply
online at www.csumentor.edu, bring official transcripts
and test scores, and a check or money order for $55.
Although anyone on campus that day can attend A Day at Dominguez,
registration is encouraged and lunch will be provided for
only those who register. To sign up online, go to www.csudh.edu/outreach/dayatdominguez.html.
Then on Saturday, Nov. 17, arrive at the Torodome, the CSUDH
gymnasium, beginning at 9 a.m. to check in. The opening session
will take place in the gymnasium from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
The
rest of the day’s events will occur from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. throughout the campus, including the academic fair
in the ballroom of the Loker Student Union, and the Student
Walkway — featuring entertainment and student life
organizations — outside the student union in the Palm
Courtyard. California State University, Dominguez Hills is located
at 1000 E. Victoria St., near Avalon Street, in the city
of Carson. A map of the campus is available online at www.csudh.edu/site/VisitUs/Maps.asp.
Parking in any campus lot for the day is free.
