CSU Dominguez Hills College of Education to Host Webcast on Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

Carson, CA - On January 30, CSU Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) College of Education will be a Host Site for the live video cast on the new regulations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Educators from the region will be participating in the live Webcast from the CSUDH campus.

Art Cernosia, Esq., a noted expert in federal special education law and regulations, will deliver the training. His presentation will provide information on the final federal regulations implementing IDEA, as amended in 2004, with a particular focus on issues related to the law in California, including various
circuit court decisions. Details about the training may be examined at ideatraining.org.

The CSUDH College of Education is hosting the event, including a discussion with two prominent individuals in special education immediately following the Webcast. Donnalyn Jaque-Anton, executive officer, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Educational Services and Fred Weintraub, a contributor to P.L. 94-142
(the original IDEA) and the independent monitor for the LAUSD’s Modified Consent Decree related to special education, will share perspectives and answer questions about the law and its implementation in Southern California.

The Webcast is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, with responses and discussion to follow from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. The entire event will be held in the CSUDH College of Extended Education, Room 1213.

The campus is located at 1000 E. Victoria Street in the city of Carson near the junction of the Harbor, Artesia and San Diego freeways. Parking Lot 3 is accessible from Tamcliff Avenue-Toro Center Drive entrance from E. Victoria Street. Parking permits are available from the yellow dispensing machines at the
