CSU Dominguez Hills
Offers Community Financial Aid Workshop
Carson, CA - In collaboration with the California Student Aid Commission, the CSU Dominguez Hills
College of Education (COE) and the Office of Financial Aid are offering an innovative
financial aid workshop for the entire community on February 9th from 4-7 p.m. in the
College of Extended and International Education Auditorium, Room 1213.
The Workshop will present each of the large grant and loan cancellation programs available
for 2-year and 4-year college students, paraprofessionals, and individuals interested in
changing careers to become teachers.
All Workshop participants will be given assistance in filling out the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which in California is due on March 2nd. The required
form and individualized help will be provided.
“Making financial aid available to our students is one of our highest priorities,” says
Lynne Cook, dean, COE. “We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to offer this
model workshop with the Student Aid Commission and the California State University system.
It affords important opportunities to college students and those considering college.”
“This is our number one goal,” Delores Lee, director, Financial Aid, concurs. “We hope
everyone interested in attending college in our region will attend to learn about all of
the funding available to support their education.”
The Governor’s Budget for 2007-08 contains a $61.3 million increase in the
State’s
Cal Grant Program to allow for increased participation and to offset student fee increases.
It also contains a $2.9 million increase in funds for student loan cancellation for new
teachers.
