UCLA Athletic Director and CSUDH Alumnus Daniel G. Guerrero to be Honored at Latino Business Reception
Carson, CA - The annual Latino Business Reception, co-sponsored by the Torrance Area
Chamber of Commerce and California State University, Dominguez Hills, will be held April 4,
2007, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the elegant new Loker Student Union on the CSUDH campus.
The theme of this event is “Power in Partnerships,” and this year’s award recipient is
CSU Dominguez Hills alumnus Daniel G. Guerrero (Class of '82, M.P.A.). Guerrero has been Director of Athletics at UCLA since 2002. Under his leadership,
the Bruins’ athletic program earned more NCAA Team Championships than any other university in the
Guerrero wants his Bruins to do well in life, as well as sports. As director, he has fostered a
commitment to academic achievement for his athletes, and many have earned top honors for their grades.
For his strong leadership in collegiate athletics, Guerrero has earned honors from his alma maters;
he’s been named both UCLA Latino Alumnus of the Year and CSU Dominguez Hills Alumnus of the Year. September 10, 2002
was declared Dan Guerrero Day by the Los Angeles City Council. And this year, on April 4, the Torrance
Area Chamber of Commerce and the CSUDH Office of Alumni Relations will honor Guerrero with the Latino
Business Leadership Award for his contributions.
In addition to honoring Guerrero at the event, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and CSUDH Office of
Alumni Relations will demonstrate the “Power in Partnerships” by presenting a donation in support of academics
at the University.
A performance by the CSUDH Dance Department, live music, vendor booths, complimentary food and a cash bar as
well as a chance for those in attendance to see old friends and meet new business contacts at the Latino
Business Reception will all be part of an enjoyable and valuable evening.
Demonstrating their support of achievement in the Latino community, corporate sponsors include
the Port of Los Angeles, Citibank, Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute, Roadium Open Air
Market, Toyota Motor Sales USA, Comerica Bank and the Daily Breeze. This event is open to the public. Tickets are $35 per person and
include food, entertainment and great opportunities for networking. Advanced purchase of tickets is highly
