- Carson, CA - Terra Incognita: Contemporary Landscape Painting,
April 4 – 25, 2007
- Opening reception: April 4, 5 to 7 p.m.
Terra Incognita explores contemporary landscape painting in 50 works by Los Angeles artists Sarah Arnold, Steve Comba, Lee Kim and Randall Von Bloomberg. Each artist utilizes a different aspect of the contemporary landscape, ranging from Comba’s grand, romantic vistas to Von Bloomberg’s luminous paintings of magnified landscape details.
Highlights include Sarah Arnold’s vibrant plein air paintings of Echo Park and Long Beach,
Lee Kim’s glowing suburban landscapes and Randall Von Bloomberg’s vivid landscape microcosms.
An opening reception for the artists will take place on Wednesday, April 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., and a conversation with the four artists will be held in conjunction with the opening at 6 p.m. in the University Art Gallery. The exhibition and related events are sponsored by the Instructionally Related Activities Committee of the Associated Students, Inc.
Admission is free to all gallery events. The gallery, located in room A107 of LaCorte Hall (adjacent to parking lot 6), is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
CSU Dominguez Hills is located at 1000 E. Victoria St. in the city of Carson near the junction of the Harbor, Artesia and San Diego freeways. Visitor parking permits may be purchased for $3 at the yellow dispensing machines at the front of each campus lot.
