CSU Dominguez Hills President Named
to Board of
Association of American Colleges and Universities
(Carson, CA)— California
State University, Dominguez Hills President Mildred García
has been named to the board of directors of the Association of
American College and Universities (AAC&U).
Founded in 1915, AAC&U is a national organization focused
on ensuring the foundations and importance of a liberal education,
defined by the AAC&U as one that cultivates a broad knowledge
of many subjects, providing transferable skills and a strong sense
of social responsibility and core values. Its board and members
seek to “reinforce the collective commitment to liberal education
at both the national and local levels and to help individual institutions
keep the quality of student learning at the core of their work.”
As a member of the board of directors,
Dr. García will
help oversee governance of AAC&U and set policy and position
statements on issues of importance to the AAC&U mission. Her
term is for two years, renewable for one additional two-year term.
“I am thrilled to join the board of the Association of American
Colleges and Universities,” García said. “The
mission of this organization is one I feel strongly about. AACU
champions providing all college students, including underserved
and ethnically diverse students, with a liberal education that
prepares them for civic leadership, personal growth, and professional
success in socially responsible work. I look forward to working
with the board in support of AACU’s programs and initiatives.”
