CSU Dominguez Hills Begins Strategic Planning Process
Asks stakeholders to weigh in during feedback sessions this week

(Carson, CA) – This week, California State University, Dominguez Hills embarks on a months-long strategic planning process that, when complete, will shape the university’s direction for the next five years.

Beginning today, Feb. 23 and continuing on Thursday, Feb. 26, Friday, Feb. 27, and Tuesday, March 3, a series of town hall events are taking place on campus to collect feedback from students, faculty, staff and members of the community as to what should be the core values, mission and goals for CSU Dominguez Hills, and how the university can truly become a “model urban university” for the 21st century. All meetings will take place in the Loker Student Union ballroom. A schedule of these feedback sessions is available online, www.csudh.edu/strategicplanning/schedule.

“It is hard to believe that CSU Dominguez Hills is only a year away from celebrating its 50th anniversary! … When I joined CSU Dominguez Hills, I became aware of both its amazing history and the great challenges we face. What excited me most then, and still does today, are the opportunities we have,” said President Mildred García in a message to campus. “Today I ask you to join us as we look to the future and come together to build on our rich history. The time has come for us to take the first major steps to bring our dreams a little closer to reality and you – the members of the CSU Dominguez Hills community – are central to this process.”

An online survey is also circulating this week in conjunction with the feedback sessions. Respondents are asked to give their opinions on the university’s strengths and weaknesses and how it can become a model urban university. To take the survey, click on the ‘You Tell Us’ link from the CSUDH home page, www.csudh.edu.

Using the responses from the feedback sessions, the strategic plan will be drafted and circulated to various campus constituencies before a final draft is adopted. A rollout of the final version of the strategic plan is expected by the end of May.
