Gates Millennium Scholars Program and Hispanic Scholarship Fund Host Bridge Builders Forum at CSU Dominguez Hills
One-day event to help 300 young men of color succeed in school

(Carson, CA) – On Saturday, March 28, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), in association with the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, is hosting “Bridge Builders Forum” on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) to address the issue of declining Latino male high school graduation and college enrollment rates. The event is being sponsored by the CSUDH Office of Government and Community Relations.

Taking place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Loker Student Union on campus, the Bridge Builders Forum is free and open to the public. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is requested and can be completed online at bbcsudh.eventbrite.com.

More than 300 male junior high and high school students and their parents are expected to attend the day-long leadership academy that includes empowerment workshops focused on topics vital to student success, such as setting and attaining goals, preparing for college and taking advantage of scholarship opportunities. In addition to the academy, there will be an Educate to Succeed mini college fair from noon – 1:30 pm in the student union lobby.

Bridge Builders is made possibly through a grant from the Gates Millennium Scholars Foundation. The purpose of the forum is to encourage more male students of color in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas to pursue a college education.
