CSUDH Update from President García:
July 30, 2009
University Community Members,
There has been a great deal of speculation about our furlough plan for bargaining units 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, confidential employees, and MPPs. After working through many details, we are happy to announce that we have an approved plan. Your patience has been appreciated as we adjusted campus activities and assignments necessary to close the campus on certain days. The planning was especially difficult because federal and state requirements dictated the number of furlough days allowed in any given time frame. Given these challenges, where possible, Mondays and Fridays were selected to allow for long weekends. Also, where possible, furlough days were paired with holidays. On the furlough days, all MPPs, Confidential, Physicians, APC, and CSUEU represented employees will observe a non-paid furlough day unless it is determined that they are needed to provide essential services.
If you have questions after you review the plan, please contact your manager or Mr. Seigle in Human Resources. The Administration wants to thank everyone for the joint effort to save jobs and help the University through these difficult economic times.
