CSUDH Budget Update: November 15, 2010
Important Information on 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 Tuition (State University Fee) and Affordability
Tuition (State University Fee) Increase.
Dear Campus Community,
You have likely heard that the California State University Board of Trustees implemented a two-step increase in tuition (State University Fee) for the Winter/Spring 2011 semesters and the 2011-12 Academic Year. I want to be sure that you have all the information on the increases in order to help students plan for and continue their education. I have attached a document with all of the details.
Raising tuition is never an easy decision for the Board of Trustees and I know how difficult it can be for students and their families. One third of the revenue from tuition increases will be set aside for financial aid, and we should encourage students to apply for financial aid as quickly as possible and to investigate all the funding opportunities that are available.
The increases will sustain our enrollment, classes and student services. You should know that the CSU will be requesting from the legislature and the governor the state funding needed to “buy out” the proposed 2011-12 tuition increase and I will keep you informed on the outcome of that request. Please write to your state elected official so they know of our concerns about raising tuition.
It is so important that we do everything we can to assist our students in reaching their graduation goals. If you have any questions, please contact Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at (310) 243-3696.
Thank you,
Mildred García, Ed.D.
President
