Related: Important Information on 2011-2012 Tuition Fees and Affordability
Dear Student,
You may have heard that the California State University Board of Trustees has implemented an increase in tuition fees for the 2011-12 Academic Year. I want to be sure that you have all the information about the increase in order to continue your education.
Students and families should plan for the increase that will go into effect fall 2011. Tuition fees will increase by $294 per semester for full-time undergraduate students, $339 for credential program participants and $360 for graduate students. I have enclosed a document with additional details.
Raising tuition is always a difficult decision for the Board of Trustees and I understand how the additional costs will impact students and their families. One-third of the revenue from the tuition increase will be set aside for financial aid, and I strongly encourage you to apply for financial aid as soon as possible and to investigate all the funding opportunities available to you.
The increase will sustain our enrollment, classes and student services. You should know that because of the precarious budget situation, the CSU Board will review at its meeting in November 2011 whether adequate funds have been provided by the Legislature and the Governor in the Budget Act, and will determine whether additional tuition fee increases will be required. I will keep you informed on the outcome of that review. Please write to your state elected official and urge them to make funding higher educationa priority.
Despite these economic challenges, CSU Dominguez Hills remains one of the best values in higher education nationwide. In fact, CSU Dominguez Hills was recently named among the Top 10 most affordable colleges in the nation by the U.S. Department of Education, as reported on CNNMoney.com. We will continue working hard to remain affordable while providing excellent educational opportunities for more students in our communities.
It is very important that you achieve your educational goals and we want to do everything we can to assist you. If you have any questions, please contact Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at (310) 243-3696.
Thank you,
