University Goals 2006 - 2007

 

GOAL 1 - Strengthen and assess student learning for academic excellence and social responsibility.

 

  1. Strengthen the process of learning assessment for continuous program and instructional improvement by continuing the integration of assessment into all university processes.

 

  1. Ensure that all university programs promote excellence, including the recruitment, retention, and support of outstanding faculty and staff that reflect the diversity of the student body.

 

  1. Provide instruction, including developmental courses that improve time to degree, and persistence to program completion or graduation with measurable outcomes.

 

  1. Strengthen student support services (e.g. advising, mentoring, tutoring, learning communities, service learning, First Year Experience) and student outcomes.

 

  1. Promote pedagogically sound and innovative application of academic technology, which includes the infusion of information competencies.

 

  1. Strengthen the infrastructure and support for learning outcomes by increasing state and external resources.

 

 

GOAL 2 - Construct and implement a sound process of planned enrollment.

 

1.      Assess program viability and ensure that programs meet future needs of potential CSUDH students.

 

2.      Assess and modify current scheduling practices and space use to fully utilize existing facilities.

 

3.      Build an infrastructure to maintain the physical learning environment for current and planned enrollments.

 

4.      Engage in a concerted effort to recruit, retain, and graduate traditional college-age students.

 

5.      Continue the concerted effort to increase the percentages of high achieving students who enroll, complete programs, and/or graduate from CSUDH.

 

6.      Increase access and support through technology to expand learning beyond the campus physical environment.

 

 

GOAL 3 - Build upon and take full advantage of our unique cultural demographic diversity.

 

1.      Continue to identify and implement “best practices” in academic programs to maximize opportunities and access for our diverse student body.

 

2.      Continue to develop and enhance academic programs and services that recruit, retain, and graduate a multi-ethnic student body.

 

3.      Engage our diverse student population in a full range of university and community activities.

 

4.      Increase participation of the campus community in international programs.

 

5.      Continue to recruit, retain, and support faculty and staff who reflect the diversity of the student body.

 

 

GOAL 4 - Engage in interactive partnerships that promote educational, economic, and social development of the communities we serve to make CSUDH an indispensable resource.

 

1.      Develop and expand service and economic partnerships with the community.

 

2.      Initiate research that supports the local community and disseminate the findings.

 

3.      Identify joint CSUDH/community projects that might not otherwise be accomplished without a partnership focus.

 

4.      Expand collaborative relationships with K-12 schools to provide mutually beneficial learning environments.

 

 

GOAL 5 - Continue to improve the environment that supports research, scholarly and creative activity.

 

1.      Strengthen the infrastructure and support for research, scholarly and creative activity by increasing state and external resources.

 

2.      Enhance programs and activities that acknowledge those who are successful in research and scholarly activity.

 

3.      Continue to encourage student involvement in research, scholarly, and creative activity as an essential part of the learning experience.
 

 

GOAL 6 - Enhance the University’s image and academic reputation.

 

1.      Develop a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance the institution’s reputation and image.

 

2.      Improve the University’s regional and national ranking.

 

3.      Enhance the University’s image as a valuable community resource.

 

4.      Enhance, communicate and publicize interactions among the members of our learning community that enhance academic development, intellectual and civic engagement.
