for Educational Effectiveness
(WASC Standards 1 and 3; University Goal 2, 3)

Executive Summary

Question One: The campus has built an integrated set of structures and processes that align assessment, planning, and resource allocation. What is the relationship of these structures to educational effectiveness?

The EER narrative describes the data sources that demonstrate evidence of policies, procedures, and research related to this question. Discussions of the Mission Statement, Strategic Plan, Academic Master Plan, and College-Specific Master Plans with links to the complete documents are included. Also summarized is the work of the University Planning Council (UPC), University Curriculum Committee (Curriculum Review), Enrollment Management Policy Council (EMPC), and Enrollment Management Plan. Also highlighted are findings from individual programs that have completed the program review cycle, as well as findings from external peer reviews such as the Facilitation to Graduation Peer Review and College/Program Accreditation results. The Program Review Process and Program Effectiveness Assessment Tool (PEAT) and PEAT+ are reviewed along with the University Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (USLOA) Process and Review.

Question Two: The campus has initiated studies to investigate faculty transition, to determine the viability of current programs, and to generate information for academic program development. How are institutional data used to address faculty transition, program viability, and new program development?

In addition to the sources described above for Question One, summaries of the (a) faculty search process; (b) Affirmative Action Report; (c) Retention, Tenure, and Promotion processes; and (d) demographics of new faculty hires provided the basis for study of these issues.

The challenges the campus faces regarding enrollment and budget are described in Core Issue 2 of the EER. Campus efforts in this area are detailed through enrollment data, including history, enrollment status by applications, admission status, enrollment yields, and degrees conferred by college. Collaborative University outreach efforts are also summarized.
