The
WASC Educational Effectiveness visit is scheduled for February 13-15,
2008. The WASC team of evaluators consists of six members from diverse
fields and campuses throughout the state and across the nation. They
received the Educational Effectiveness Report (EER) in late November.
During their visit to CSUDH they will be meeting with members of
the campus community to validate the evidence of effective educational
opportunities and quality academic programs
as described in the EER.
They will be reviewing evidence of student learning (such as student
work samples) and programmatic change (as described in program self-studies
and program effectiveness reports). Also they will determine the
extent to which recommendations made after the Capacity Preparatory
Review visit in 2006 have been implemented, as well as the progress
the campus has made in achieving the goals and answering the researchable
questions identified in the Institutional Proposal.
We encourage the campus community to review the EER and the CSUDH
WASC website to become familiar with the University's "points of pride."
We wish to demonstrate to the visiting team the remarkable accomplishments
that have been achieved by the campus community in spite of the challenges
that we have faced. Please make yourself available for interviews
as requested and attend the Celebration of Creative and Scholarly
Activity reception sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the
campus WASC self-study team, scheduled for Wednesday, February 13th
from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and the Annual Campus Poster Session Showcase,
Thursday, February 14th from 11:30-1:00 p.m.
As in the past, the campus self study has centered around four themes:
Academic Quality, Campus Change, Diversity, and Civic Engagement.
Each Core Issue provides an overview of the information provided
in the EER as evidence of campus efforts to answer the researchable
questions related to these important issues.
