Why is the contact email address displayed as a non-hyperlink image?

Displaying an email address as an image is a common anti-spam technique used to prevent email harvesting. Because automated harvesters only see this as an image file, they can't read the address.
The image is also not a clickable hyperlink; instead you must manually enter the address. Although a slight inconvenience, this too hides the address from harvesters, which are capable of reading hyperlink code.
