Winter 2008 ART/Special Studies Digital Photography:
Photojournalism
The instruction will include lessons on how to capture pictures
accurately on location using your digital camera, develop your original
point of view to structure the assignments due for the class and
learn to communicate you will. For your future use in the real job
world. All pictures are evidence of a truthful documentary realistic
moment captured from within your environment based on specific assignments
one picture is only the beginning of a larger story to inform professional
art curators, editors, directors, clients, art directors, and other
audiences.
Images talk, attract and communicate. To know how to create an
effective photograph using the latest digital camera and computer
application of Adobe Photoshop is absolutely crucial to your future
success in your chosen career.
For students in the Communications Arts this course will prepare
you for an exciting career as a producer, director, photojournalist
and photographer. I teach you the basics along with advance techniques
in preproduction and post production presentation of your idea using
images and caption text to encapsulate your concept for your given
audience. Do you want to produce segments? Short essays for newsmagazines
or web blogs? Do you want to write and book and be able to design
a cover which expresses you idea in one look? Do you want to direct
films? Understanding that one picture is just a beginning and a
potential to all of the above professional outcomes, and in this
course we will consider the ideas of a sequence of images to tell
your story as an assignment to get you moving in your personal visual
expression.

What, where, how, and why take a picture are questions
that require truthful answers. Will your picture establish a mood?
Are you recording a high point of an event? Is your picture showing
our humanity or inhumanity? Pictures can tell your story from many
angles and paint an accurate portrait of what you do now!
