John Langley

John Langley is best known as the creator and executive producer of the long-running, critically acclaimed television show COPS. His success has resulted in a well-deserved star on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also received the prestigious Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award for career achievement at the 2013 NATPE Conference.

Langley is a true pioneer of the reality television phenomenon and is often credited with the innovative "video verite" signature style of the award-winning COPS program.  Airing for almost three decades, COPS has certified Langley’s place in television history, including breaking the record for the longest-running primetime entertainment series in the history of network television.

With the success of COPS, Langley went on to produce a number of other non-fiction series for network and cable as well as independent theatrical motion pictures. He has received numerous recognitions for COPS, including the American Television Award and four Emmy nominations.  Additionally, he was honored with the Cine Golden Eagle Award and the Houston International Film Festival Award for the documentary Cocaine Blues.
