Sabato Pilato

Monsignor Sabato “Sal” Pilato was named a Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor by Pope Benedict XVI. Cardinal Roger Mahony appointed him to the Priest Personnel Board, Superintendent of High Schools for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and to the Archdiocesan Catholic Life Issues Commission. His peers also elected him to the Secondary Principals Advisory Council and the Executive Committee of the Catholic Athletic Association.
Msgr. Pilato co-founded the Los Angeles affiliate of the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy. He was appointed to the national board of directors, elected secretary in 2001 and vice president in 2011. He holds membership in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Council of the Social Studies. Msgr. Pilato is a founding board member of the Emerald Bay Alumni Association, where he served as camp director of the 700-acre Camp Emerald Bay on Santa Catalina Island.
