Paula Ranson

Paula Ranson is a Chief Nurse Executive in the California Correctional Health Care System. She is also a Public Health Nurse and is nationally certified as a Correctional Health Care Specialist. She acts as a Nurse Expert Witness for the State of California and as a proctor for the National Correctional Health Care’s certification exam.

Ranson developed an innovative approach to the management of diabetic inmates throughout the California prison system, which improves their health. She has presented her research at both national and international conferences, and has been internationally published. She was honored to receive both the Cynthia G. Johnson California State University School of Nursing Community Service Award and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Research (MSN) Award.

Ranson participates on the Institutional Review Board as a representative of community and prisoner research subjects. She precepts nursing students during their public health rotations, and MSN students seeking to complete clinical hours for the Nurse Administrator pathway.
