Course Description:

Foundations in Women’s Studies (WMS 250) Course Description: Studies. Students learn about gender from a multicultural, multiracial feminist and global perspective. Emphasis is on women's history; gender, culture and nation; social institutions; sexuality, sexism and violence; and local and transnational women's movements.

Instructor Bio:

Cyndi Villanueva Rios studied Spanish & Italian at UC DAVIS, earning a double B.A. She earned her M.A. in Contemporary Latin-American and Golden-Age Peninsular literatures and language while at CSU, Long Beach. She is currently a part-time faculty member in the Modern Languages Department and the Women’s Studies Program at CSU, Dominguez Hills.

Her scholarly interests include contemporary Latin-American literature, Guatemalan testimonial literature and social politics, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, world religions, women’s movements, and current LGBTQA political and human rights issues world-wide. Additional academic practices include writing social justice poetry and fiction.
