Gabriela Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Administration in the Department of Public Administration at California State University, Dominguez Hills. She completed her PhD in Criminology, Law and Society at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Gonzalez’s research, at the broadest level, blends theories from criminology, sociology and socio-legal studies to understand the nature and consequences of punishment and the production of inequality for marginalized populations in the United States. Her recent work examines the consequences of immigration enforcement and advances sociolegal understandings of the significance and role of U.S. citizenship in mixed-status families. Dr. Gonzalez’s work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Social Problems, Punishment & Society, Sociological Perspectives, and the American Journal of Public Health.
