International Education Week (IEW) celebrates the benefits of cultural and academic exchange programs around the world. Every November, CSUDH's Office of International Education partners with other offices, departments and colleges within the university to provide our campus community with international, multicultural, and globally-themed events.

Description:  Aria Teimourzadeh is an Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems and Business Analytics at Huron University. Prior to joining Huron at Western, he was Assistant Professor of Information Systems at McGill University (Desautels Faculty of Management). Aria has also taught Business Analytics and Information Systems courses at different universities and business schools in France and Spain. His main research interests include HR Analytics, Management Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence and the IT adoption in education.

In honor of International Education Week we invite everyone to Celebrate Culture!! You may do so by wearing garments that represent your Heritage! Traditional attire from your home country or heritage is highly encouraged! Participants will have an opportunity to show off their Heritage during opening ceremony! Walking the Catwalk will be optional.

Description: Speak with two representatives from the Academy for International Education (AiB) in Bonn, Germany. Below are the bios of the two speakers:

Janette Yamanian, Senior Academic Manager

Janette holds a Master’s degree in North American Studies with majors in Political Science and History. She studied at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Bonn and has been working in international academic exchange for the past seven years. At AiB, she’s responsible for university relations and academic planning, as well as training and managing the junior staff.

Amir Yousif, Junior Academic Manager

Amir received his Bachelor’s degree in English Studies with a minor in Politics and Society from the University of Bonn. Having been a former international student in Norway and the U.S. himself, Amir has worked in international academic exchange for a combined three years with AiB and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He’s responsible for the daily program management and academic planning.

Description: Get to know more about former international undergraduate and graduate students who studied at CSUDH. This virtual panel is moderated by Dr. Hamoud Salhi, Senior International Officer at CSUDH. Alumni panelists include Libbykimie Cecil, Jenny Fernandez, Chinaemerem Isika, Anand Mishra, and Sharmista Tulasi. 

Speaker bios are listed below:

Libby Kimie Donkor

Libby Kimie graduated from CSUDH in 2022 with a B.A. in Business Administration and a focus on Entrepreneurship. She is currently working as a Social Media Coordinator for a small entertainment planning company called R.T. Clown Inc. Libby is also self-employed and has been working on setting up her business since June. She says: “I am living my dream.” 

Jenny Fernandez

Jenny graduated from CSUDH with a Master's in Computer Science in 2020. After graduation, she worked for Amazon as a Software Development Engineer and is currently working with JPMorgan Chase as a Senior Software Engineer. Despite graduating during Covid, she believed in making an impact through her work, and that keeps her going. She lives by the beach in Tampa, Florida and enjoys traveling and painting in her free time.

Chinaemerem Isika

Chinaemerem Isika was a Mathematics undergraduate student at CSUDH from 2015 to 2019. After graduating in December 2019, he has worked as a host options specialist at Unify Credit Union. He recently finished his master’s degree in Data Science from National University in San Diego and is currently looking for a data analyst/data scientist job.

Anand Sai Mishra

Anand graduated from CSUDH with an M.S. in Computer Science in December 2020, specializing in Network and Distributed System under the guidance of Dr. Beheshti. He currently works for SailPoint Technologies, a world leader in the Identity and Access Management field. Working as a Cloud Deployment Engineer in the Expert Services team, Anand works with top industry professionals, assisting them in securing their environment and the broader internet. Since graduating from CSUDH, he has also participated in seminars and published papers for his research in military-grade encryption and inter-vehicular ad-hoc networking. He is highly interested in discussions on cybersecurity, networks, and technology in general and always encourages anyone and everyone to do the same.

Sharmista Tulasi 

Sharmista graduated from CSUDH with a Master’s degree in 2021, specializing in Computer Science. She currently works for CDK Global as a Software Engineer. Since graduating from CSUDH, she has also participated in Toastmaster club events, and has been a part of the CDK impact and wellness group. Sharmista is highly interested in learning new technology, hiking, and traveling. Her favorite classes were Guitar and Math and Design Analysis. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon.

"Pathway to Leadership in the Philippines and the US: Part I"

Speaker: Jo Ann Paanio, J.D., Advocacy Director, Washington DC

Description: Pathway to Leadership in the Philippines and the US: Two Parts Series featuring students from San Pedro College in the Philippines and CSUDH learning from each other how to become leaders in their respective countries. Advocacy Director Jo Ann Paanio, JD and CSUDH alumni will introduce the students how to be engaged in leadership roles in the US. LIEZEL PALO, San Pedro College, will present that of the Philippines. Students from both campuses will have the opportunity to ask questions, work in teams and reflect on pathways to leadership in the two countries. Dr. Salhi (CSUDH) and Dr. June Prieto (SPC) will moderate the event.
