Due to the current health crisis, the Grant Writing and Administration program, which is usually conducted in a hybrid online/classroom setting, will now be conducted online using Zoom and the Blackboard Learning Management System. Live virtual class sessions will be conducted at the day/time indicated in the program schedule. Attendance at all class sessions is required.
Obtaining grants is critical to the success of any nonprofit organization. In this three course certificate program, you will learn how to write successful proposals, and how to implement, assess and evaluate grants.
Topics covered include grant writing, grant proposals, the application process, methodology, evaluation, assessment, timelines, performance reporting, direct funding, in-kind contributions, foundations, principal investigators, leadership development officers, forums, conferences, and networking.
This Hybrid certificate program requires students to attend three in-class sessions and participate on-line using Blackboard. Students are required to complete the on-line readings and exercises. Students will also be required to participate by posting responses to instructor's questions and participating in class discussions utilizing the discussion board. Each class session includes an assignment that will reinforce the material, promote the peer review process, and provide a hand-on writing experience. Two days after you are registered, please log on to Blackboard, and print out the hand-outs in Week 1 and bring them to class.
Classes meet both on campus at CSUDH and online (via Blackboard) for the classroom lecture. Classes are convenient for people living and working in or near Los Angeles, Torrance, Long Beach, Carson, Compton, El Segundo, Lomita, Harbor City, Palos Verdes, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, San Pedro, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Gardena, Westchester, Ladera Heights, Lakewood, Paramount, Bellflower, Downey, Inglewood, Wilmington, and other parts of the South Bay and Southern California.
This program is open to all individuals interested in learning about grant writing and administration. Students must have access to the Internet.
A certificate is awarded upon completion of all three courses, and classes should be taken in order.
