HEX 984 | Comprehensive School Wellness (10 CEUs)

This course supports K-12 administrators implementing SSAE, Section 4108. A Comprehensive Needs Assessment with a Healthy School Improvement Plan focus will be developed using logic models, health, and academic outcomes research. Evidence-based activities and resources to support Social Emotional Learning under SSAE, Section 4107 and Safe and Healthy Students under SSAE Section 4108 will be explored. Capacity building will also include exploring cross-cutting activities for staff development, stakeholder input, and parent education as allowed by SSAE.

HEX 985 | Human Sexuality School Health Education (10 CEUs)

This course prepares K-12 professionals to successfully implement Sections 4107 and 4108 of SSAE for cognitively and age appropriate human sexuality school health education.

Exploration of research-based teaching strategies, alignment with education standards and evaluation of resources will support the development of cognitively and age appropriate human sexuality school health education lessons and parent education materials reflective of Sections 4107 and 4108 of SSAE.

HEX 986 | School Drug and Violence Health Education (10 CEUs)

This course prepares K-12 professionals who will implement school substance abuse, injury, and violence health education as per Section 4108 of SSAE including: bullying and harassment prevention; suicide prevention; human trafficking; sexual harassment, abuse, and violence education; and dating violence prevention education. Standards-aligned and research-based lesson plans, advocacy tools, and parent education materials will be developed.

HEX 987 | School Health Fitness and Nutrition Education (10 CEUs)

This course prepares K-12 professionals to impact poor nutrition and physical inactivity among school-age youth as described in Section 4108 of SSAE. Standards-aligned and research-based lesson plans, advocacy tools, and parent education materials will be developed to improve health and academic outcomes among K-12 populations.

HEX 988 | School Based Mental Health Education (10 CEUs)

The course prepares K-12 professionals to engage or reengage K-12 populations. Data will be synthesized to understand the prevalence of behavioral/mental health issues that impact health and academic outcomes. Research based approaches and cross-cutting measures will be explored to develop lessons, advocacy tools, and parent education materials as described Sections 4107 and 4108 of SSAE.
