Message from the Chair

Dr. Corina Benavides López

Welcome y Bienvenidxs to the Chicana and Chicano Studies Department (CHS) website! We are an interdisciplinary critical space for learning about Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x experiences and populations in the United States. Applying a social justice framework, our academic program prepares students for a variety of professional opportunities as well as graduate and professional school. Chicana and Chicano studies faculty are committed to work closely with students to guide them towards success in college and beyond.

Our program offers opportunities for students to develop and strengthen their academic and scholarly skill through our course offerings. We also value providing students hands-on experiences to hone their leadership and civic engagement skills through participation in student organizations, community-based internships, and department-sponsored co-curricular programs and activities. We invite you to explore our program options, contact us, or to stop by and visit us in LaCorte Hall!
