Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Chicana and Chicano Studies Department! We are an interdisciplinary academic space for learning about Chicana/o and Latina/o experiences and populations in the United States, within a framework of social justice. Our academic program prepares students for a variety of professional opportunities as well as graduate and professional school and our faculty work closely with students to guide them towards success.

The Chicana and Chicano Studies Department hosts a variety of extracurricular activities and we encourage students to enrich their university experience by participating in student internships and organizations. For example, the Chicana/o Studies Department works closely with community non-profit agencies like La Hermandad Mexicana, C.H.I.R.L.A., and C.A.R.E.C.E.N. and with campus clubs such as M.E.Ch.A (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Aztlán), the Chicana/o Studies Club and Espíritu de Nuestro Futuro.

We look forward to sharing more about our program and to meeting you. Stop by and visit us in LaCorte Hall!
