Severino is an Assistant Professor at the Communications Department at California State University, Dominguez Hills. His research areas and interests are in the intersection between mass media and international affairs, political communication, and journalism studies. Fernando has held different communication and journalism roles in Chile and the United States. His more recent position was as Marketing Communications Specialist at 3M headquarters in St. Paul. Before coming to the United States, Fernando was the International News Editor for CNN Chile. Prior to this position, he worked in an international documentary project about the fall of the Soviet Union. Also, he was the Communication Director for a Public Policy Center at the Alberto Hurtado University in Santiago. He has a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Minnesota and holds a Master of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University in New York.
