Dr. Ryan Bowles Eagle is an assistant professor in the Film, Television, and Media B.A. program. She specializes in media activism, feminist media studies, media spaces, and documentary. She has published work on human rights film festivals and collective media activism (European Journal of Cultural Studies), documentary and space (Media Fields Journal​), media and public sexualities (New Views on Pornography), and feminist hashtag activism (Feminist Media Studies). She has presented at conferences including Society for Cinema and Media Studies, the National Women’s Studies Association, Popular Cultural Association/American Culture Association, and Console-ing Passions, and is a former managing editor for Camera Obscura: Feminism, Culture, and Media Studies. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Dr. Bowles Eagle worked in independent documentary production. Her frequent course offerings include Media and Representation, Genre Analysis (Documentary), and Media Industries.​
