Dominguez Hills Transfer Learning Community

Welcome To The Toro Family!

Welcome to the TORO family! We’re so glad and thrilled you’re here. Your transition to a new college environment can be an exciting and rewarding, yet challenging, experience. Becoming familiar with CSUDH’s academic expectations and requirements, meeting new people, building a foundation of support and navigating an unfamiliar campus takes time. It is a process and we hope you trust the process that will guide you in achieving your goals. We look forward to helping you succeed and watching you grow!

What is DHTLC?

Our DH Transfer Learning Community will give you access to academic and social experiences in your first semester at Dominguez Hills!  The learning community encourages transfer students who come from many different backgrounds to learn about themselves and others. This allows you to become an integral part of the DH Transfer Learning Community, find your place on campus and have the confidence to take any opportunities that arise.

Design Your Life (UNV 395) is a dynamic course that helps you plan your career path after graduation. You will become familiar with the Career Center and utilize many of the wonderful services it provides. Additionally, you will complete practical assignments that will further your knowledge of yourself and the career(s) you are considering. Enroll in UNV 395 Design Your Life.

The faculty continues to validate why I chose CSUDH for the pursuit of my higher education and I am excited for my future as a Toro! The UAC advisor was such a joy and a pleasure to talk with especially in understanding my academic report, as far as, which GE’s I should start taking as a transfer student while I wait for my official transcripts to transfer over.

How will DHTLC help me succeed?

Transferring to a new school can be stressful, but we’re here to help you make a smooth transition. Our Toro family is ready to support your journey, not only in the academic realm but in all aspects that impact your success. You have already received academic advising and class registration support during the summer transition, which will continue as you progress in your academic journey. In addition to developing core academic preparation skills, students will also learn about campus life and resources, gain a better understanding of CSUDH’s academic expectations and resources, meet with helpful faculty, staff and peer academic coaches, General Education (GE) and major advisors, and begin connecting with new and current CSUDH students.
