The 2021-2022 financial aid applications are now available. Be sure to complete your FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application by the priority deadline of March 2nd, 2021 so that you are considered for all types of aid. Although this date has passed, you may still submit your application and will be considered for available aid.

Check your To Do List and submit your documents to the Financial Aid Office by the May 13, 2021 deadline so that  your financial aid package will be available to you before the Fall semester begins.

Winter Session and Financial Aid

If you are considering or plan to enroll in Winter Session through the College of Extended & International Education (CEIE) and would like to pay winter session fees using financial aid, you will need to request a Winter Session Deferment Form.  Please call the Financial Aid Office at 310-243-3691 and a Financial Aid Staff member will assist you in determining if you have sufficient aid to cover your Spring 2022 tuition fees and Winter Session fees. The complete Winter Session Deferment will then be emailed to your campus email account (Toromail) for you to submit to CEIE via email at

Attention Cal Grant Recipients:

Due to recent changes brought on by the newly enacted state budget, the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) has made adjustments to Cal Grant award eligibility and amounts. Please refer to your communications from CSAC for further information on changes that may apply to your Cal Grant Award.  If applicable, updates to your Cal Grant offers will be made and reflected on your student portal.

FCC Emergency Broadband Benefit

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford broadband internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides:

  • Up to $50/month discount for broadband service;
  • Up to $75/month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands; and
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider if they contribute more than $10 but less than $50 toward the purchase price.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Who is Eligible?

A household is eligible if a member of the household meets one of the criteria below:

  • Has an income that is at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, or Lifeline;
  • Receives benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, or did so in the 2019-2020 school year;
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year;
  • Experienced a substantial loss of income due to job loss or furlough since February 29, 2020; or
  • Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating broadband provider's existing low-income or COVID-19 program.
