CSU System Scholarships

The list below features scholarships that are awarded to students enrolled at select CSU campuses, including CSUDH.

CSU Trustee's Award for Outstanding Achievement

Description: Awarded to 23 CSU students who have demonstrated financial need, superior academic performance, community service, and personal achievements.
Amount: $6,000 to $12,000

Glenn and Dorothy Dumke Fellowship

Description: One fellowship awarded each year to a CSU graduate student at any area campus who is pursuing studies in public policy, American history, economics, archival management, or government.
Amount: $1,400

Nathaniel R. and Valerie Dumont Scholarship

Description: Eight (8) scholarships awarded to CSU students, particularly those with visual and physical impairments as well as financial need.
Amount: $4,000

Edison Scholars Scholarship

Description: One to two scholarships awarded to students in a graduate program in one of the STEM majors listed in description of the application materials.
Amount: $4,000 to $5,000
Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • Must remain a California State University full-time equivalent student during the scholarship period

William and Janet Lahey Art Education and Visual Arts Scholarship

Description: One scholarship awarded to students in a post-baccalaureate program leading to a high school single subject teaching credential in the arts; a Master of Fine Arts program in art or one of the visual arts specilaizations; or a Master of Arts program in one of the visual arts specializations.
Amount: $10,000

Richard K. Leffingwell Scholarship

Description: Two scholarships will be awarded to students who aspire to a career in public service. A military veteran meeting the criteria and otherwise equal to others in qualifications will receive more favorable consideration.
Amount: $3,000
Requirements:

  • Must have a course of study within a discipline of a CSU School of Business and Economics
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Demonstrate interest in and aspire to a career in lublic service
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must be currently enrolled full-time and remain full-time during the scholarship period

California Society of Municipal Finance Officers Robert M. Odell Endowed Scholarship in Public Administration

Description: Four (4) scholarships awarded on a rotational basis to 9 CSU campuses.
Amount: $2,000
Requirements:

  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time, upper division undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must be pursuing studies in the field of public administration
  • Strong consideration will be given to Public Administration majors specializing in Finance, and first-generation college students

Wilson C. Riles Education Scholarship

Description: Awarded to three (3) students enrolled in a CSU teaching credential program.
Amount: $2,000
Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a CSU teaching credential program
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6.0 units of teaching credential courses

Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students

Description: Awarded to CSU undergraduate or graduate students in any major field, who are declared visually impaired and currently enrolled in 6.1 units of more. Minimum 2.8 GPA.
Amount: $10,000
Requirements:

  • Must be declared visually impaired
  • Must be currently enrolled in 6.1 units or more
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA

Howard C. Christiansen Endowed Scholarship

Description: Awarded to CSU undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in the study of engineering.
Amount: $6,000

  • Must demonstrate financial need

Jim Sanders Media and Leadership Scholarship

Description: Awarded to CSU students who have an interest in journalism, media, or communication.
Amount: $2,500
Requirements:

  • Must aspire to a career in media, in any aspect of the industry (engineering, sales, production, graphic design, human resources, etc.)
  • Must express current leadership qualities or the desire to be a leader

Hampton Scholars Scholarship

Description: Awarded to California Academy of Mathematics and Science (CAMS) students. Must demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing.
