Presidential Scholarship

Description: The Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship program offered at CSUDH. The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, community and campus involvement, and strong leadership qualities. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to freshmen for four years, and to transfer students for two years.

After initial screening of applications, selected students will be invited to attend an on-campus interview in March and April with the Presidential Scholars Selection Committee.

Requirements:

  • Minimum weighted grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5
  • Documentation demonstrating vigorous community service
  • Documentation highlighting leadership roles

How to Apply:

  • Prepare an essay for upload that does not exceed 600 words. The essay should state your reasons for applying to CSUDH and the Presidential Scholarship Program, how CSUDH will help you achieve your educational and career goals, and how you plan to contribute to the CSUDH community of talented and diverse students and scholars and your local community.
  • Prepare a resume for upload that highlights your awards and honors, school/college-related activities, community service, work experience, leadership, and other notable achievements.
  • You will need the email address of at least one faculty member, counselor, employer, or mentor to request at least one letter of recommendation. Please request the letter from someone that knows you well and can attest to your academic, leadership, and community endeavors.
