Freshmen Next Steps to Fall Enrollment

The transition from high school to university will be smoother if you make thoughtful and timely decisions about housing, orientation and complete your to-dos. Carefully read through this checklist that will guide you through the process of becoming a Toro and ensure you not only meet your deadlines but are prepared to successfully transition. 
Make sure you decide and complete all 8 steps and use the drop down for additional information on how to complete the steps. 

STEP 1: Access your CSUDH campus portal and Toro Email 
Complete immediately

STEP 2: Apply or complete your Financial Aid
Complete immediately or by March 2 to qualify for an Intent to Enroll Waiver

STEP 3: Submit your Intent to Enroll Deposit 
Complete by June 1, 2020

STEP 4: Register for New Student Orientation
Complete by June 1, 2020

STEP 5: Decide on housing and apply for housing if needed
Housing Applications are open from March 16, 2020 - June 1, 2020 and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

STEP 6: Complete your To Do List in your portal
Complete by the deadlines listed. Financial Aid documents have a priority deadline of May 7, 2020

STEP 7: Complete Directed Self-Placement (DSP)
Complete by June 1, 2020

STEP 8: Submit official, final transcripts
Complete by July 15, 2020 or as soon as you can.  If you have trouble meeting this deadline, individual situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
1. How to login to your MyCSUDH portal

Your Campus Account at MyCSUDH is your official student portal at CSUDH. All information related to financial aid, admissions, deadlines and more is located on your Campus Account at MyCSUDH account. You can also download the iToros app from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Determine if you have previously activated your account.
  • If you have never activated your account, continue to activate username and account below.
  • If you have previously activated your account, continue to access your Campus Account at MyCSUDH portal below. 

Activate Username & Account

Step 1. Find Your CSUDH Username

  1. Go to: csudh.edu/username
  2. Enter your 9-digit CSUDH Student ID number.
  3. Enter your 8-digit Date of Birth (MMDDYYYY format).
  4. Indicate whether you have a Social Security Number (SSN), YES or NO.
    1. If YES, enter the last 4 digits of your SSN and press Enter. Your CSUDH Username and a Temporary Password will be displayed.
    2. If NO, please contact the IT Help Desk at (310) 243-2500, option 1, for further instructions. Please have your CSUDH ID number available when you call. 
  5. Proceed to step 2. 

Step 2. Activate CSUDH Username and Access Account

  1. Once you have retrieved your username and temporary password, please click on Set Up My Security Questions to continue.
  2. Enter your username and the password, and LOG IN.**
    1. Setup five security questions.
    2. Once answers are entered, click SAVE in upper right. A confirmation prompt will flash.
  3. On your PROFILE page, click the option to CHANGE PASSWORD. This will take you to the Change Password screen.
  4. Click SAVE after updating the password. A confirmation prompt will flash.
  5. Click SAVE on the PROFILE page again. Click on your name in upper right, select LOGOUT.
  6. Visit csudh.edu to log in and access your campus account.

If you need additional login assistance, please contact IT Help Desk at 310-243-2500, select option 1.

**After login, if the page indicates “You don’t have any apps set up,” please click on your name on the upper right, then PROFILE.

Step 3. Check your Account Frequently

Check your campus account frequently and complete your “To-Do” list. Your student portal reflects the most up-to-date admissions and registration information. Additional items may be added to your “To-Do” list at any time. We recommend checking once a week for updates.

2. How to Submit your Intent To Enroll Deposit 

Quick Steps

  • Accept or Decline your admissions to CSUDH
  • Submit your $125 non-refundable Intent to Enroll Deposit by June 1, 2020

To qualify for the intent to enroll deposit waiver, you must have filed a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application by March 2, 2020 with CSUDH school code 001141, and received a Student Aid Report (SAR) with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0.

Students who filed a FAFSA or California Dream Act application after March 2 will not be eligible for the waiver. There are no exceptions.

The Intent to Enroll deposit fee is non-refundable, even if your admission is revoked. Initial admission decisions are conditional and based on self-reported information. Final admission confirmation is validated upon the submission of final official transcripts by July 15, 2020.

REDIRECTED & CONDITIONALLY ADMITTED STUDENTS:  Your admission decision was based on self-reported information from your application for admission.  If you don't complete the required courses with grades of "C" or better, maintain the eligibility GPA and meet all deadlines, your admission will be revoked.  Even if you have met all other requirements and have already registered for classes.  Once we receive your final official documents, we'll perform a final review of your eligibility to confirm your admission to CSUDH.  Official documents are due July 15, 2020.

*All graduate/post-baccalaureate programs (including master’s, credentials, post-baccalaureate certificates and second bachelor’s in Nursing) are not required to submit an Intent to Enroll.

3. How to Register for New Student Orientation (NSO)

NSO is a mandatory enrollment requirement and all newly admitted students must attend NSO in order to begin classes in the Fall. Students who do not register by the deadline and attend their registered NSO date are not eligible to enroll at CSUDH for the academic year in which they applied. 

In order to register for NSO, log into your MyCSUDH portal and first submit your Intent to Enroll deposit. Once you have submitted your Intent to Enroll Deposit, you will be able to click on the NSO Registration link and see all available dates for your major. 

NSO dates are by major and it is important to look at your calendar before selecting a date. Seating is limited and and a first-come, first-serve basis. The dates listed below may not be available if you wait too long to register or need to change your date after you have registered. 

The deadline is June 1, 2020 after this date students will no longer be able to register for NSO even if you have submitted your Intent to Enroll Deposit. 

Students admitted to the following programs are not required to attend General NSO or pay the General NSO Fee: Applied Studies, Nursing, Quality Assurance, certificates, and all graduate/post-baccalaureate programs. You will receive information directly from your academic department if a program-specific orientation is required.

4. How to activate Your Toromail

Activate ToroMail, your student email account. All official CSUDH communications pertaining to your student account, enrollment, and financial aid are sent to your student ToroMail account. Once you have activated your ToroMail, you must check regularly to avoid missing important announcements. 

5. How to complete Directed Self-Placement (DSP)

Login to Blackboard at toro.csudh.edu and complete DSP, if required. Deadline is two weeks prior to your New Student Orientation Date. For more information, please visit https://www.csudh.edu/dsp/.

6. Submit Final Transcripts

Submit your final official transcripts and test scores by July 15. Our Admission Office must receive your final official transcripts (electronic transcripts are preferred) in order to qualify for enrollment and financial aid. Admission decisions are based on self-reported information from your application for admission. All students are *conditionally admitted pending review of official transcripts and test scores to confirm that all eligibility requirements have been met.

  • All freshmen students must submit final official High School Transcripts with graduation date listed.

*If you don’t complete the required courses with grades of “C” or better, maintain your overall GPA, and meet all deadlines, your admission may be revoked even if you meet all other requirements and have already registered for classes.

7. CSU-Wide Immunization Requirements

Please be advised that there will be an upcoming requirement for immunizations, per Chancellor’s Office (CO) Executive Order 803.  Students will be required to show proof of being compliant with the requirement.  This requirement will initially apply to incoming/transferring students, but it is recommended that all students consider becoming compliant with these requirements, as they are good health practices per California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Also, in the event of certain outbreaks, all students may be asked to verify their immunization status. The immunizations required and recommended by the CO can be found here. A definite date for compliance with immunizations has not yet been set; this date will be forthcoming in the next few months and students will have a semester to get their shots. This notice serves to notify students which immunizations will be required so that they have time to get them.  Please note, students/parents will be further notified as to how to input/upload their own immunization records once the process is set up for this purpose.  Please DO NOT bring immunization records to the CSUDH Student Health Center or the Admissions Office for this purpose, but DO start working on getting these documents/immunization requirements taken care of so as not to scramble, as many of these vaccinations do take certain time intervals and multiple doses to complete.
