Application Checklist

In order to meet immigration timelines, International Applicants residing outside of the USA are encouraged to submit all documents by October 15th for the Spring term and by May 1st for the Fall term. 

The following programs are online only and do not qualify for I-20 issuance: Humanities (HUX), Online MBA, Online MPA, Online NCRP, and Online Quality Assurance.

The following programs are closed to International Undergraduate Applicants: Applied Studies, Biochemistry, all Certificate Programs, Child Development, Clinical Science, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice Administration, Earth Science, Information Technology, NCRP, Nursing, and Quality Assurance.

The following programs are closed to International Graduate Applicants: All Certificate Programs, Computer Science, Education School Leadership CASLA, Interdisciplinary Studies, Marital and Family Therapy, MSW-Part Time, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, School and College Counseling, and Special Education.

Undergraduate Application Deadline: Spring = November 2nd; Fall = May 1st

Undergraduate Document Deadline: Spring = November 30th; Fall = June 1st

Document deadlines for graduate students vary by program.

STEP 1: APPLY

Complete your application and pay the $55 fee online at Cal State Apply.


STEP 2: ACTIVATE MY.CSUDH

Your application confirmation letter will include the information you need to activate your My.CSUDH.edu online account. Check this account often to:

  • Check your application status
  • See what documents you still need to submit
  • Pay tuition and fees
  • Confirm your intent to enroll
  • Sign up for academic advising
  • Register for classes
  • Check your student email
  • Receive important announcements
  • And much more

STEP 3: SEND YOUR SCORES

Send in your test scores for:

  • Entrance Exam — Not all students are required to do this. Click here for more information.
  • Proof of English Proficiency. Learn more about test options, such as Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) here.

STEP 4: SEND YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AFFIDAVIT

Complete your Affidavit of Financial Support [PDF] indicating you have enough funds to cover your first year of full-time study. Learn more about financial certification.

Note: This affidavit must be completed before student can be issued a Form I-20.


STEP 5: SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS

Submit your official transcripts (academic records) for all schools attended, whether coursework was completed or not. Include transcripts for ESL coursework. Electronic transcripts are preferred. Learn more about submitting foreign transcripts.


STEP 6: SEND YOUR COURSE DESCRIPTION/SYLLABI

Students transferring post-secondary courses to CSUDH must submit official course descriptions/syllabi in English. Learn more about submitting course descriptions.


STEP 7: SEND FORMS

F-1 visa international students transferring from a college or university in the U.S. and applying from within the U.S. must submit copies of the following:

  • F-1 visa stamp
  • I-94 copy
  • Current form I-20

STEP 8: APPLY FOR HOUSING

If you plan on living in University Housingapply online to reserve your space as soon as possible.


STEP 9: GET HEALTH INSURANCE

Admitted international CSUDH students must purchase health insurance that covers many serious health expenses while visiting the U.S., including Medical Evacuation and Reparation Rights coverage. More information about health insurance click here.
