Career History

Dr. Gomez is an assistant professor at CSUDH since 2019 and is a Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapist (FL) and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Her professional work includes servicing individuals, couples, and families who have been affected by various forms of trauma. Her areas of specialization include suicide intervention/prevention, substance abuse, sexual trauma, stress management, and anxiety reduction. Currently, Dr. Gomez runs groups and healing circles for individuals combatting racial trauma. Her approach is grounded in postmodern therapies, such as Narrative Therapy, and her work is also heavily influenced by humanistic models. Before working at CSUDH, Dr. Gomez provided crisis intervention and prevention services and therapy at a Rape Crisis Center, a Suicide help hotline, and a Teen Recovery Center.
