Jazz

The Jazz Program at CSUDH is directed by tenor saxophonist Dr. Teodross (Teo) Avery. Students declare a degree option in Performance, Music Education, or General Music) and receive weekly private lessons with a world-class jazz faculty and perform in Jazz Band.

Jazz Band

The CSUDH Jazz Band regularly performs on and off campus and consists of several small combos. Students focus on learning jazz standards as well as other repertoire with an emphasis on improvisation and live performance. Dr. Avery brings his years of experience performing on the jazz circuit in New York City and around the world to the group, giving students invaluable professional insight.
