Degree Program Costs

The cost for the program is $412/unit. Graduation requires 36 units for completion, for a total tuition fee of $14,832, plus approximately $600 for books/materials, for a total estimated cost of $15,500.

There is an $85 graduation fee.

Financial Assistance Options 

There are several financial assistance options available for students completing their MSRIS degree. 

Note: As a distance learning student through the online master's program, you will not be eligible for federal or state grants.   

Federal Student Loans 

The U.S. Department of Education offers low-interest loans to eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education. Eligible students must be admitted, in good academic standing, and enrolled at least half-time (6 units) in a program leading to a degree, teaching credential, or approved certificate.   

If you are eligible for a Federal Student Loan, as a graduate student, you can only qualify for an Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan, so you are responsible for all the interest that accrues on your loan. The federal maximum a graduate student may be eligible to borrow with an Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan is up to $20,500 for the academic year. To apply for funding, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) The FAFSA form must be submitted by June 30 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Please note: students must reapply for financial aid for each new academic year.  

Based on the information provided on your FAFSA application, the CSUDH Financial Aid Office will determine your eligibility and the actual loan amount you may borrow each academic year. If deemed eligible, funding will come from Federal Direct Stafford Loans- The William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program. These funds must be REPAID, and you will repay a Federal Direct Stafford Loan to the U.S. Department of Education.

ACERT Elsevier Faculty Development Scholarship http://acert.org/participation/index.html 
For faculty pursuing an advanced degree, the Elsevier Faculty Development Scholarship is available. Through our sponsoring partner Elsevier, this scholarship is awarded to a deserving faculty who is enrolled in an advanced degree program. Submission deadline: Dec. 1. 

AEIRS The LaVerne T. Gurley Scholarship https://www.aeirs.org/scholarships-grants 
Intended to provide funds to assist an imaging or radiologic sciences educator in attending an AEIRS Annual Conference. The funding will be awarded during the AEIRS Annual Meeting luncheon and the scholarship recipient must be in attendance to receive the award. The applicant must be an active AEIRS member during the year of application, currently serve as a full-time faculty member in an accredited imaging or radiologic sciences program and must have served in this capacity for at least one (1) year, and must never have attended the AEIRS Annual Meeting. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee are not eligible to apply for a scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded annually not to exceed $1,200. Deadline: May 1 

AEIRS Invest In the Future Scholarship https://www.aeirs.org/scholarships-grants 
The applicant must be an active AEIRS member during the year of application, currently serve as a clinical instructor, clinical supervisor or clinical coordinator in an accredited program and have served in this capacity for at least one (1) year, and have completed at least one (1) semester/quarter in a higher education program at the baccalaureate, masters or doctoral level with the intent to teach didactic courses in imaging or radiologic sciences. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee are not eligible to apply for a scholarship. One scholarship will be awarded annually not to exceed $1,000. Deadline: May 1 

The International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research 
Also available to students accepted to or enrolled in accredited diagnostic medical sonography schools, the International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research offers $500 scholarships to sonography students. The diagnostic medical sonography program must be accredited by the CAAHEP. Forms for completion to gain consideration for this ultrasound scholarship are available on the foundation’s website www.ifser.squarespace.com

Hispanic Scholarship Fund 
One of the scholarship funds specifically developed to assist minorities seeking higher education and advanced degrees, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a multitude of scholarship partnerships and programs for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. Students of medical sonography may wish to apply for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund’s General Scholarship. This program is for any degree program at an accredited school, for students of Hispanic heritage who are US citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. (California) Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program (AHSP) https://oshpd.ca.gov/loans-scholarships-grants/scholarships/ahsp 

  • Be enrolled in a minimum of six units, or its equivalent until program completion 
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or greater until program completion 
  • Not have any other existing service obligation with other entities, including other HCAI programs 
  • Not be in breach of any other health professional service obligation 
  • Provide 32 hours or more per week of direct patient care upon graduating 
  • Commit to providing a twelve-month service obligation in a medically underserved area upon graduating. Qualifying service areas:
