U.S. News & World Report

  • CSU Dominguez Hills was ranked 32nd on the magazine's 2019 list of "Top Public Schools" among Western Regional Universities.
  • The magazine listed CSUDH as the 88th-best overall university in the Western Region for 2019.
  • In 2017, CSUDH was named one of the "Top 100 Most Ethnically Diverse Universities in the West."
  • CSUDH's Nursing master’s degree programs were listed among the best graduate programs in the magazine's 2015 "Best Grad Schools." 

Accessibility and Affordability

  • CSUDH was listed among the top colleges and universities in the country in a 2014 Time Magazine ranking. Placing the highest importance on graduation rates, tuition, and the percentage of students who receive federal Pell Grants, CSUDH ranked 33rd among 100 schools that topped the Time Magazine list. Time used data that 2,500 colleges and universities submitted to the Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System.
  • CSUDH was ranked 2nd in Lowest Overall Net Cost in BestValueSchools.com's "100 Most Affordable Universities in America" (2017).
  • OnlineColleges.com listed CSUDH 2nd in its 2016 "Most Affordable Colleges in California" rankings.
  • CSUDH has the 5th-most "Affordable Online Master's Degrees in Negotiation and Conflict Management by collegechoice.net (2018).

Community Service and Public Good

  • CSUDH has been listed on the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll every year since 2009. In 2014, CSUDH was selected for the Honor Roll's Presidential Award, the highest federal recognition that a university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning, and civic engagement. 
  • Since 2012, CSUDH has been ranked among the Top 25 Master's Universities in the Nation for its "contribution to the public good" by Washington Monthly. Its rankings are based on social mobility, research and scholarship, and commitment to service.
  • CSUDH ranked 4th in California and 18th nationally for Overall Mobility Index, compiled by The Equal Opportunity Project (2017). The OMI reflects access, outcomes, and the likelihood that a graduate's income potential will improve as a result of their degree.
  • For its commitment to community engagement, CSUDH received the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification in 2010, which is valid until 2020. The classification recognizes the partnership of college and university knowledge and resources with those of the public and private sectors to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity; enhance curriculum, teaching, and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good.

  • CSUDH was ranked 1st among California public universities in granting degrees to African Americans by Diverse: Issues in Public Education (2017).
  • Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education put CSUDH in 30th on their list of "Most Bachelor's Degrees Awarded to Hispanic Students" (2018).
  • CSUDH is among the top 50 universities nationwide in granting undergraduate and graduate degrees to minority students, according to Diverse: Issues in Public Education (2017).
  • CSUDH ranked 51st nationally in awarding bachelor's degrees to minority students across all discipines, per Diverse: Issues in Public Education (2018).
  • Diverse: Issues in Public Education placed CSUDH 63rd nationally in conferring master's degrees to Hispanic students (2018).

  • Washington Monthly named CSUDH 15th on its 2018 list of "Top 150 Master's Universities." Schools were ranked on three equally weighted criteria: social mobility, research, and public service.
  • Graduateprograms.com ranked CSUDH 19th in its "Top 25 Occupational Therapy" programs for Fall 2015.

Career Outcomes

  • Educate To Career ranked CSUDH 85th among the “Top 100 Best Value Colleges” in its College Rankings Index. The index calculates the improvement in earnings and employability of persons who attended specific colleges, relative to those similarly situated in other colleges (2016).
  • The Economist ranked CSUDH 63rd in alumni earnings above expectation. The financial magazine looked at the projected earnings of alumni had they studied elsewhere and compared it to their actual earnings after receiving a degree from CSUDH, estimating that alumni make an average of $6,120 more per year because of their education.
  • CollegeNet's Social Mobility Index ranked CSUDH 93rd out of more than 900 universities in terms of how well it help students improve their economic status (2015).
