While we highly recommend that all students meet with an academic advisor each semester to ensure a successful academic experience, advising is only required for the following types of students:
All new freshmen should attend the New Student Orientation for academic advising, an overview of graduation requirements, course scheduling, registration, and general assistance. New freshmen who do not attend a New Student Orientation will need to contact the University Advisement Center.
All new transfer students should attend the New Student Orientation for academic advising, an overview of graduation requirements, course scheduling, and general assistance. If you are a transfer student and cannot attend orientation, you'll need to contact an academic advisor in your major and set an appointment to meet for advising. A list of department contacts can be found on page 4 of the Class Schedule. You'll also want to contact the University Advisement Center for General Education advising.
Advising is also required for the following types of students:
Check your Registration Information prior to registering. If advising is required, you'll see an advising hold on your account. You'll need to meet with an advisor in your major in order to clear the advising hold and proceed with registration. A list of department contacts can be found on page 4 of the Class Schedule page. Call and make an appointment for advising.
Visit our Check for Holds page for more information.
