RISE Program Financial Support

The RISE Program is funded in part by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Student participation is year round. During the academic year, students are limited by academic course work, but during the summer, they are expected to devote a greater amount of time to research. The position pays $12.00/hour for a maximum of 15 hours per week during the academic year and a maximum of 40 hours per week during the summer break. Participants can earn up to $12,500/year. In addition to student's regular research salary, the program provides funds for research laboratory supplies and a travel allowance for participants to attend scientific meetings.
