3yr Part Time Ext Ed Program

Cal State University Dominguez Hills’ part-time Master of Social Work (MSW) program is designed for working professionals. This 3-year program is offered through the University’s College of Extended and International Education (CEIE) and is accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). The program is 60-credit hours in length with classes scheduled during fall, spring, and summer terms. Classes take place during one weeknight evening and every other Saturday, with a few exceptions. All classes are held on campus. We do not currently offer an online program, nor do we offer any online courses as part of our curriculum.

The curriculum, faculty, and academic advisement for the 3-year, Part time program is managed by the CSUDH Department of Social Work. However, CEIE administers the program, handling registration and collection of fees. Nonetheless, the same accredited degree is awarded. The 3-year program is a self-support degree program (not funded by state tax revenue). Therefore, the tuition reflects a slightly higher rate than similar programs held on the CSUDH campus. Please contact the CSUDH Financial Aid Office for information regarding current tuition rates for the 3-year, part-time MSW program and applying for financial aid.

The fieldwork practicum component during Year 2 consists of sixteen (16) hours in the fall and spring semesters on Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays. Twenty (20) hours of field practicum are required during Year 3 of the program in the fall and spring semesters on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Though start and end times may vary per placement, students completing fieldwork practicum are required to fulfill duties during normal hours of business operation (i.e. 9-5pm or 9-6pm).   THERE ARE NO EVENING OR WEEKEND PLACEMENTS available for students, and arrangements must be made in advance with places of employment in order to attend the program. Applicants must describe in detail how they will meet this fieldwork requirement in their application.
