Anne Peters' Memorial Scholarship

Description

This is to announce the competition for the Annual Anne Peters’s Memorial Scholarship award.

Amount

Up to $500 is available for distribution in the Spring 2018.

Requirements

All undergraduate and graduate students whose major is Sociology, Labor Studies, Women’s Studies and the PACE program are eligible to apply. Students must be enrolled in spring 2018.
Since the scholarship award will be granted in the spring 2018 semester, applicants must be continuing students in one of the previously designated areas of study. The award committee will take into consideration the applicant’s financial need, academic record and career goal in evaluation each applicant.

Applications can be picked up at the following office: Sociology Office-SBS B334

Deadline

The deadline for filing an application is 2:00PM, December 4, 2017. Completed applications should be turned into the Sociology Department Office, SBS B334.

Herman Loether Scholarship

Description

The Loether Memorial Social Research Scholarship was established in his honor to support Sociology students engaged in scholarly research activities. Herman J. Loether died of cancer on March 25, 2011. Dr. Loether, emeritus and founding faculty member of the sociology department at CSUDH, was greatly respected by his colleagues and his many students. Dr. Herman Loether established the Social Systems Research Center (SSRC) in addition to teaching at CSUDH for 30 years (after teaching for 10 years at CSULA). Dr. Loether founded the Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Chapter at CSUDH, and served as the advisor for many years. Dr. Herman J. Loether was actively involved in the development of the SSRC (now called the Urban Community Research Center), and took great pride in teaching CSUDH students about doing hands on sociological research with community partners.

Up To $1,000

Requirements

Applicant must be a Sociology major, undergrad junior or senior, or graduate student, in good standing with the university. Applicant must be enrolled for the upcoming spring 2018 semester, and must be actively engaged in sociological research (e.g. involvement in the UCRC, Sociology 302 or 502, or other research activities with Sociology faculty at CSUDH). Applicant must have commitment to continuing education and attaining a graduate professional degree.

How To Apply

Students must complete an application and submit it to the Sociology Department Office (SBS B-334). Applications are available in the Sociology Department.

Deadline

Decembar 4, 2017 by 2pm.
